ABOUT

MODERN WOODCRAFT + DESIGN
Woodsport is an independent woodcraft studio based in the Twin Cities. Mixing traditional techniques with an experimental approach, Woodsport creates original, heirloom quality furniture and accessory pieces for residential, corporate, and institutional clients. Working principally in American hardwoods, designer & craftsman Scott McGlasson creates each piece by hand in our St. Paul studio. Pieces can be purchased at the fine craft and furniture shows we attend nationally, from select galleries, and directly from our studio. Feel free to contact us about upcoming events and availability of pieces.

STATEMENT
"My work has a strong modern aesthetic and the highest level of craftsmanship highlighting the natural materials. Design influences range from mid-century modernism to industrial components to Shaker principles. My designs typically start from a simple form, which I then bend, laminate, join, turn, shape, color to make pieces that are unique and exciting while still adhering to principles of simplicity and utility. I relish subtle details that are executed with perfect craftsmanship. I love mixing modern with rustic, balancing clean lines with something rough, jagged or naturally distressed."

FAQ

SUSTAINABILITY?
We harvest much of our own lumber from the urban forest. Typically these are trees that fell victim to storms, blight, or construction projects. Lumber we purchase is FSC certified. We practice "nose to tail" woodworking, wasting nothing. We design accessories in order to use our scrap. Small pieces heat Scott's north woods sauna. Shavings end up in local chicken coops or pottery kilns. Our finishes are the finest, low VOC lacquers and oils, applied safely and disposed of properly.

DO YOU DO CUSTOM WORK?
Woodsport began as a "job shop" years ago and has built just about everything under the sun. These days we mostly customize our line of furniture and design in our style, but we'd be compelled to look at any interesting project. Contact us regarding consultation about custom work.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR ORDERING?
We stock many smaller items such as stools, lamps, and turned tables. Larger pieces are built to order. Typically a small development fee is required if a design needs to be drafted. This fee is put to the overall cost of the project. Terms are 1/2 down, 1/2 upon delivery. Lead times can range from 4 to 24 weeks.

DO YOU SHIP?
Yes. Boxing/ crating and shipping typically adds 10 to 20% to the cost of the item; local delivery rates are less.
